Artwork licensing

Every purchase grants permission for specific uses. It does not transfer copyright or ownership of the original design.

Standard purchase: personal use

The standard $3 digital design includes a non-exclusive, non-transferable personal-use license for one purchaser or household. Commercial use is not included.

Personal use allows

  • Printing the artwork for your home, office or personal gift.
  • Cutting, engraving or crafting physical items for yourself or as unpaid gifts.
  • Using a flattened, watermarked or low-resolution image in personal social media posts.
  • Making reasonable backup copies of the purchased files.

Personal use does not allow

  • Selling products, services or merchandise using the artwork.
  • Sharing, reselling, sublicensing or giving away the digital files.
  • Uploading the design to print-on-demand, stock, template or file-sharing platforms.
  • Claiming authorship, registering the design as a trademark, or removing ownership notices.
  • Converting, tracing or editing the design for redistribution or resale.
  • Using files or artwork to train generative AI systems.

Commercial licenses

A separate written commercial license is required before using a design on products for sale, paid advertising, packaging, business branding, client work or revenue-generating content. Fees depend on the design, product type, production quantity, sales channels, territory and duration.

Request a quote from support@musicalwordart.com before production. A commercial license is valid only after the scope is agreed in writing and the license fee is paid.

Commercial license boundaries

Unless a signed license expressly says otherwise, commercial rights remain non-exclusive and do not permit resale of digital files, sublicensing, trademark registration, logo use, mass-market production beyond the approved quantity, or use that suggests endorsement by a referenced musician.

Copyright and enforcement

Musical Word Art retains all copyright and rights not expressly granted. A material breach automatically ends the license and requires the user to stop production, remove listings and delete files. Musical Word Art may pursue takedowns, damages and other lawful remedies while remaining open to resolving honest mistakes promptly.
